When it was first announced that former Rockstar veterans, including the producer of GTA 5, were collaborating on a new project, anticipation for MindsEye ran high. However, following a wave of negative previews, lackluster marketing, and internal studio issues, the game ultimately launched to widespread disappointment.
Now, a new report suggests that Mark Gerhard, co-CEO of Build A Rocket Boy, referred to the MindsEye development team as “lazy and incompetent.”
According to the YouTube channel BaityBait, Gerhard’s alleged remarks significantly worsened the studio’s already tense work environment. This development reportedly followed the abrupt departure of both the CFO and CLO of Build A Rocket Boy, just one week before MindsEye’s release.
Combined with employee reports describing a toxic and disorganized workplace, it’s no surprise the game launched in such a chaotic and undercooked state.
As of now, MindsEye is among the lowest-rated games of 2025, with a ‘Mostly Negative’ rating on Steam.
