EA’s next big Battlefield game is on the horizon—and if the latest leaks are true, you might get to play it sooner than expected. Battlefield 6 open beta is officially happening, and while the game itself hasn’t even had its full reveal yet, early details are already starting to slip out.

Here’s a quick breakdown of everything we know so far about the upcoming Battlefield 6 beta, including potential start dates, how to get access, and what might be included.

When Does the Battlefield 6 Open Beta Start?

There’s no official release date yet, but all signs point to early August.

According to a report from Insider Gaming, two separate betas are on the way:

  • Closed Beta: August 7–8
(Available only to those who preorder or snag a key from partnered Twitch streamers.)
  • Open Beta #1: August 9–10
(Free for everyone—just download and play.)
  • Open Beta #2: August 14–17
(Yes, a second chance to jump in, also free for all.)

EA hasn’t confirmed these dates yet, but with the multiplayer reveal scheduled for July 31, we expect more official info to drop very soon.

How to Join the Battlefield 6 Open Beta

There are two main ways to get in:

  • Closed Beta Access: Preorder Battlefield 6 or get a Twitch Drop code from one of the hundreds of streamers collaborating with EA.
  • Open Beta Access: No purchase or code needed. Just download Battlefield 6 from your platform’s store when the beta goes live.

What’s in the Battlefield 6 Beta?

EA hasn’t spilled the full details yet, but expect to try out a few maps and multiplayer modes. One interesting feature already confirmed: you’ll be able to choose between two types of weapon setups:

  • Open setup: Use any weapon with any class.
  • Closed setup: Classic class-locked loadouts.

“Why not both?” Battlefield Studios teased, aiming to please both longtime fans and newer players. This hybrid approach may help bridge the gap between Battlefield 4’s more traditional structure and the looser class system introduced in Battlefield 2042.

What About Campaign and Other Modes?

Battlefield 6 will include a campaign mode, and rumors point to the return of Portal mode—the community-driven sandbox tool from Battlefield 2042—as well as a possible battle royale mode.

But don’t expect those in the beta. This early test is strictly focused on multiplayer.

Will Beta Progress Carry Over?

Probably not. While EA hasn’t confirmed anything yet, it’s standard practice that progress in Battlefield betas doesn’t carry over to the final game. So don’t get too attached to your stats or unlocks just yet.

When Is Battlefield 6 Coming Out?

No release date has been locked in, but multiple sources suggest it’s aiming for October 10. That would give it a solid head start ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is rumored to launch on November 14.

If you’re hyped for Battlefield 6, keep an eye on the July 31 reveal and be ready to jump in during August. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, this beta could be the perfect chance to see if EA’s latest shooter lives up to the hype.
