Former GTA 6 Developer Joins Naughty Dog after years at Rockstar, taking his physics programming skills from GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption, and GTA 6 to work on Naughty Dog’s upcoming game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Michael Ewert, a veteran physics programmer who helped bring the worlds of GTA IV, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, and the upcoming GTA 6 to life, officially joined Naughty Dog in February. His specialty? Crafting the realistic movement, interactions, and physics systems that make games feel alive.
Ewert is now serving as a senior physics programmer on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the studio’s upcoming sci-fi adventure. Given his track record, it’s safe to say players can expect some seriously polished and immersive gameplay.

But that’s not all Naughty Dog has cooking. Studio co-president and The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann recently revealed they’re also developing another mystery project. Speaking on the Press X to Continue podcast, Druckmann clarified he’s not directing this secret game himself. Instead, he’s stepping into a producer and mentor role — guiding the team, offering feedback, and overseeing progress from behind the scenes.
Druckmann says the change of pace keeps things fresh for him, allowing him to balance executive duties with the creative process without feeling burnt out.
With Ewert’s physics expertise and multiple projects in the works, Naughty Dog’s future lineup is shaping up to be something special.
