Konami has just revealed that the legendary Metal Gear series has officially sold over 63 million copies worldwide—cementing its place as one of gaming’s biggest franchises.
According to the publisher’s latest financial report (via TweakTown), Metal Gear has reached a whopping 63.3 million units sold, even though the last main entry, The Phantom Pain, came out nearly a decade ago in 2015. That’s a major jump from two years ago when the series sat at 60 million, and it shows just how enduring Snake’s stealthy adventures really are.
With hype building around the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake—set to launch this month—the total sales number is only expected to rise. Fans are clearly ready to dive back into one of the most iconic stealth-action franchises ever made.

Konami also highlighted that it now boasts more than 2 million titles across its gaming catalog. And while Metal Gear is a giant in its own right, it still trails behind Konami’s eFootball franchise, which has surpassed 100 million copies sold.
Alongside MGS Delta, Konami is also gearing up for the release of Silent Hill: The Fall of Silent Hill—another title gamers have been eagerly waiting for. With both games dropping this year, Konami is making a serious comeback.
