Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced widespread price increases for its PlayStation Plus subscription service. These adjustments affect multiple regions across the globe, and naturally, many gamers are not happy about it.
The pricing increases, which were first announced on regional PlayStation Blogs in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Australia, have now expanded to include Canada and Turkey.
Price Increases in Canada
In Canada, PlayStation subscribers started to get emails informing them of the new pricing. The modified cost for all tiers is as follows:
- Canada – 12-Month Subscription Prices:
- Essential: CAD 109.99
- Extra: CAD 189.99
- Premium: CAD 224.99
Sony told Canadian subscribers that the price increase is to maintain the quality of games and benefits offered through PlayStation Plus. They also stated that any subscription changes made after the effective date, such as upgrades or extensions, will be charged at the new prices.
Significant Rise in Turkey
In Turkey, we will see an even bigger price jump. The monthly subscription price of PS Plus Essential is nearly doubling, and annual subscription fees for the higher tiers are also rising substantially:
- Turkey – 12-Month Subscription Prices:
- Extra: 3,645 TL
- Deluxe: 4,266 TL

These increases are part of a larger pattern of PlayStation Plus pricing changes worldwide, which Sony attributes to current global market conditions. Here’s an overview of the recently changed pricing for significant regions:

- Essential: USD 7.99 (1 month), USD 64.99 (12 months)
- Extra: USD 11.99 (1 month), USD 107.99 (12 months)
- Deluxe: USD 13.99 (1 month), USD 124.99 (12 months)
- Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia): Prices range from SGD 10.90 to SGD 169.90 and RM 35 to RM 575, depending on tier and duration.
- Australia:
- Essential: AUD 12.95 (1 month), AUD 102.95 (12 months)
- Extra: AUD 20.95 (1 month), AUD 187.95 (12 months)
- Deluxe: AUD 23.95 (1 month), AUD 214.95 (12 months)
Future Price Adjustments
Although Sony has not yet acknowledged any modifications for its main markets, the United States and Europe, it is probable that they will soon see pricing adjustments, as Sony looks to be progressively implementing these changes.
