Square Enix plans to distribute Final Fantasy 16 and other games on multiple platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2.
During a livestream from Square Enix’s Tokyo offices, producer Naoki Yoshida and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro unveiled the newly released Xbox version of Final Fantasy 16. “Now all that’s left is Nintendo,” Yoshida stated.
The two agreed on the concept, stating, “Let’s do our best, okay?” Then they used “Seiha Shitai-yo,” a common Japanese word that means “I want to take on this challenge.”
While this is not an official confirmation or commitment for a Switch 2 release, it does show a willingness to release the game on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Final Fantasy 16 will not be the only Final Fantasy title coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Square Enix has already announced a Switch version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles was recently revealed at the State of Play – June 2025 episode.
Of course, many people are hoping for a Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 16, but nothing has been announced. Final Fantasy 16 is now available for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
