Could GTA 6 really launch with a $100 price tag? That’s what some industry experts are starting to believe — and it’s sparking a ton of debate in the gaming world.
In a bold prediction, Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities claims Rockstar’s long-awaited blockbuster could be priced at $100, and still rake in over $10 billion during its lifetime. Even more wild? He estimates $500 million a year could come just from GTA Online.
Another major voice, Louise Wooldridge from Ampere Analysis, says GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the most expensive video games ever made. While Rockstar hasn’t confirmed any official numbers, rumors suggest the game’s development and marketing costs have already surpassed $1.5 billion.
That kind of budget might sound insane — but when it comes to Grand Theft Auto, players have shown they’re willing to pay a premium. Let’s not forget GTA 5’s special editions went as high as $149, and still sold out.
But there’s still a big question mark:
Would Rockstar really charge $100 for the standard edition, or would that price tag be reserved for a bundle with GTA Online included? And what happens if they do push that price boundary — will other publishers follow?
While fans are eagerly waiting for gameplay reveals and official announcements, the possibility of a $100 launch price is already turning heads. If true, it could completely reshape how AAA games are priced — or at least test just how loyal GTA fans really are.
One thing’s for sure: GTA 6 isn’t just generating hype for its world and story — it might also change how we buy games forever.
